Shall we dance?
The Music Shop
Established in London, at the bottom of a derelict dead-end, Frank is not a record store owner like the others. In this vinyl shop, a beautiful team of merry misfits, all a little damaged by life, stand together.
But above all, Frank has a gift. He only needs to take a look to know which music will soothe the torments of his client. Even if it means recommending Aretha Franklin to a client obsessed with Chopin…
This is how Frank meets Lisa, a mysterious woman wearing a green coat. After fainting outside his shop, she begs him to help her understand music. During their rendez-vous, Frank plunges back into his own childhood, seeing his mother, the eccentric Peg, playing vinyl on her old turn-table.
He, who has not believed in love for a long time, feels his heart vibrate again. And then, one day, Frank discovers the secret of Lisa. The world collapses and he disappears.
This is without counting, however, on the extraordinary solidarity that reigns on Unity Street. Because after the chaos, it’s never too late to revive hope and learn again how to dance…
With remarkable sensitivity, Rachel Joyce celebrates the courage of ordinary people, the power of love, but also the power of music that can sometimes save lives.
